Team Omni Triad (TOTT)
Team Omni Triad is a 2v2 team-based mode where you and a partner compete against another duo on a larger battlefield.
How to Play
Objective
Work with your teammate to capture more cards than the opposing team on a 5x5 board.
Board and Cards
- 5x5 grid (25 spaces total) - larger than standard TTE
- 15 cards per player - each player brings 15 cards to the match
- Discard mechanic - like OTT, you may need to discard cards during play
Team Setup
- Blue Team - Players in slots 1 and 2
- Red Team - Players in slots 3 and 4
- Cards placed by your team show your team's color
- Teams share a combined card count for scoring
Turn Order
Players take turns in slot order, alternating between teams:
Slot 1 (Blue) → Slot 2 (Blue) → Slot 3 (Red) → Slot 4 (Red) → Slot 1...
Turn Indicators:
- "YOUR TURN" badge appears prominently when it's your turn
- "AI THINKING..." appears when an AI teammate/opponent is playing
- Current player is highlighted in the player list
Capturing Cards
- Same capture rules as standard Triple Triad
- When you capture a card, it becomes your team's color
- "CAPTURE" labels appear when cards are taken
- Captured cards count toward your team's total
Winning
After the board is filled:
- Count all cards of each team's color
- The team with more cards wins
- Both winning team members receive gold rewards
Discard Mechanic
Like OTT, TOTT includes a discard phase:
- You may need to discard cards from your hand
- A discard button appears when discarding is required
- Strategic discarding can set up better plays
Team Chat Feature
TOTT includes a special team-only messaging system for coordination:
Sending Messages
- Look for the chat toggle button (globe/lock icon) next to the message input
- Globe icon - Message goes to all 4 players
- Lock icon - Message only visible to your teammate
Visual Indicators
- Team-only messages appear with:
- Blue left border
- "Team" badge next to the sender name
- Slightly blue-tinted background
- Public messages appear normally to everyone
Using Team Chat Strategically
- Discuss strategy without opponents seeing
- Coordinate upcoming plays ("I'll take the corner")
- Warn your teammate about threats
- Plan combo captures together
AI Features
AI Teammates and Opponents
- Play with an AI teammate against 2 AI opponents
- AI makes moves automatically when it's their turn
- Small delay before AI moves for better UX
Hybrid Mode (MP + AI)
Why this exists: Finding 4 players for a TOTT match can be challenging. Rather than waiting indefinitely for a full lobby, hosts can fill empty slots with AI players to start the game sooner.
When hosting a multiplayer lobby:
- The host can choose to fill empty slots with AI players
- AI players auto-ready when added
- Any combination works: 3 humans + 1 AI, 2 humans + 2 AI, etc.
- AI takes turns automatically just like in pure AI mode
Common scenarios:
| Players Available | Solution |
|---|---|
| 4 humans | Full multiplayer match |
| 3 humans | Add 1 AI to fill the 4th slot |
| 2 humans (friends) | Add 2 AI opponents to play together |
| 2 humans (strangers) | Pair each with an AI teammate |
| 1 human | Play pure AI mode instead |
Benefits:
- No waiting for a full lobby
- Play with friends even when you don't have 4 people
- Practice team coordination with an AI partner before finding a human teammate
See AI Opponents Guide for detailed information on AI difficulty levels and behavior.

Team Tips
- Communicate - Use team chat to coordinate moves
- Watch all hands - Know what cards your teammate AND opponents have
- Plan two turns ahead - Your teammate moves before your next turn
- Set up combos - Position cards for your partner to capture
- Cover weaknesses - If your partner plays a weak side, protect it
- Control the center - The 5x5 board has more strategic positions
- Use discards wisely - Don't discard cards your teammate needs
- Alternate focus - One player can attack while the other defends
