Tournament Formats
Single Elimination
One loss and you're out. The fastest format, ideal for smaller groups. Players are seeded by their rating, and BYEs are automatically assigned for non-power-of-2 player counts.
Double Elimination
Lose once, drop to the Losers Bracket. Lose twice, eliminated. The grand final features the Winners Bracket champion vs. the Losers Bracket champion. If the Losers Bracket champion wins the grand final, a bracket reset match is played.
Round Robin
Every player plays every other player. Standings are determined by points (3 for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss). Tiebreakers use head-to-head record and score differential. For larger groups, players may be split into groups of up to 8.
Swiss
A fixed number of rounds where players are paired with others who have a similar record. No one is eliminated. Avoids repeat matchups between the same players. Final standings use a Buchholz tiebreaker (strength of schedule).
